Location: Alchemy Dungeons
Time and Date: Beginning of the year, first class
Private/Open: Open to all alchemy students

Professor Benjamin Scarlotti pushed open the door and walked confidentally into his classroom. He put his briefcase on the desk, and took a moment to survey the room. It was quiet, which was something he has not used to as of late. It sort of came with having a new baby in the home. He smiled as her added a picture of Pamela to his desk. She was an angelic baby...but her brothers were certainly mischievous enough to compensate for that.

He turned around, waved his wand, and wrote the words: Welcome Back Class, today we will be reviewing practical alchemy. He sat back down in his seat, and began rifling through his briefcase for his alchemy book. After a while, he found it, and placed it on his desk along with the ingredients he'd need for what they were going to do today. He felt like making some 'purple' gold-a rather simple and beautiful experiment, in his opinion. The student who created the best sample would get to keep it. For the boys, it would be a nice gift for their girlfriends. For the girls, they could turn it into whatever kind of jewelry they wanted to wear.

William hurried down the hallways towards his alchemy classroom. Though he was a bit early, he figured he might as well just get to class and avoid the crowds. There are definitely some perks to being in seventh year, he thought, grinning wryly, as a list sprung into his head- one of them, being the obvious he wasn’t going to get lost every five seconds. That was one of Will’s favorite things about the start of school- watching all the first years wander around helplessly on the wrong floor, looking for that one particular class. Though, this year he’d have to refrain from telling them to try “four stories up and to the left” for his own amusement, what with his being a prefect and all.

Shaking his head and chuckling to himself, Will reached the door to the alchemy class. Without much hesitation, he reached out, wrenched the door open, and carefully stepped into the dungeon. He was right about being early- it appeared as though he were the first student there. In fact, the only other person in the room was the alchemy professor, a comparatively young, kind looking man- Benjamin Scolotti. Or, here in the classroom, Professor Scolotti. Will gave the man a smile, a wave, and said, respectfully, “Hello Professor.”

He looked up from organizing the different things that the class would be using in the order of which they were going to be used, and saw that William Madison had arrived. Smiling, he dusted his hands off and greeted,

"Hello, Mr. Madison. Nice to see there are still some students who enjoy getting to class early. Please, have a seat. How was your summer? Oh, if you'll just excuse me a moment." He himself turned to the board, and waved his wand, adding the words: Today's experiment will be the manufacturing of: purple gold. The following are the ingredients you will need, and the instructions are on page 12 He laid down his wand, and sat down in his seat, leaning back in the chair with a satisfying squawk and folding his hands over his middle. "Sorry about that. I had to make sure we were ready to prepared when the other students get here." Ben liked William, he was a very good student, and didn't act out too much. Besides, he was in Ben's house-Burnstrike, so there might have been a bit of prejudice there.

Will grinned at one of his favorite teachers- and, conviently, head of house. "My summer was a lot of fun, thanks for asking. How about you?"

He carefully set his book bag down on one of the desks in the front and took a seat. Most students, including, to some extent, Will, tended to avoid sitting in the front, because of its general 'goody-goody' connitation. However, alchemy WAS one of his favorite classes, and, by sitting in the front it would gurantee he didn't miss anything. Besides, he was a 7th year, so senority generally meant that he wouldn't get made fun of at all- that stuff was for younger students.

As Professor Scarlotti wrote on the board, William scanned the lettering. "Purple gold?" he read aloud, "God, my little sisters would love the sound of that..." He wrinkled his nose, and then broke out into a grin. "Then again...I'm pretty sure they just love gold in general...." he chuckled to himself, shaking his head.
