Location: Near the Pond
Time and Date: Early afternoon
Private/Open: Open

Kaiden Preston walked toawrds his favorite spot near the pond. He had just got a letter from home, and was debating if he should read it or not. Of course, the nice thing to do would be read it, smile, and write back. This wasn't really Kaiden's style, though. Glancing down at the letter again, he made it into a paper ball, and threw it to the ground. He decided that he did not need to read about how his mother didn't miss him and how much she loved his sisters. Also, he did not want to see 'from mom, Jarrod, and the girls.Kaiden wasn't stupid, he knew that Jarrod and his sisters didn't give a damn about him. They thought that he was worthless, and that did not bother him anymore. He ran a hand through his light blonde hair, as his hazel eyes looked out into the lake. His eyes closed very tightly.

He remembered when he was three, and his mom took him -just him- to a pond. It was the best day of his childhood. It was the day that he leanred how to swim. As a surprise, his mom and him spent the night in a nearby hotel. They never did stuff like that. He knew that his mother didn't have a lot of money, so it was a treat. This was when she just started to date her wealthy boyfriend, Jarrod. Kaiden liked him then. He was nice, and liked to play trucks with him. They would go play in the woods near Kaiden's house. He used to tell Jarrod that when he was older, he wanted to be a fireman. Jarrod would laugh, and tell him that he would make a great fireman.

Kaiden's eyes opened quickly, and his face went back to normal. His eyes looked up at the school. He was skipping class right now, but honestly did not care. He saw students that did not have a class right now outside, so he kind of blended in perfectly. He looked back over at the letter, and kicked it more away from him than it already was.

Hayden Rose skipped out of the school. She was finally done with classes for a while. She had about an hour for a break. Because it was such a hot day, she decided to go down to the pond for a shot while. No, she wouldn't be going in it, but just sitting by it would be nice. It was then she saw someone sitting in her spot. Her nose wrinkled up, and she walked over to this person. Her hands seemed to find their way to her slender hips. Her deep blue eyes got very narrow, and her little feet stomped over to him.

"You're in my spot." She said, and looked at him. She saw that it was Kaiden Preston. Hayden bit her bottom lip, and started to back up. The thought of yelling at Kaiden scared her a little. She didn't have Melinda with her, so she was on her own. She noticed that he looked a little upset. Her inner girl told her to go make him feel better. She sat down next to him, and looked out into the pond. "You ok, Kaiden?" She asked, and used her 'sweet-heart' voice. She really wished Melinda was there with her. She would know what to say. She looked infront of him and saw a letter that was in a ball.

"Umm...is that yours?" Hayden questioned, and reached out to grab it. She opened it up, and saw that it had his name on it. "Kaiden, umm...you're supposed to open these." She thought that it was really amazing that she knew something someone didn't. "That is kind of the point of letters....to open them, that is." She handed it to him, and waited for him to take it, still wondering where Melinda was.
